Marine Straddle Carrier Operator / Yardman

We are hiring an experienced Straddle Carrier Operator and Yardman (Mon – Fri) negotiable. 7.30am to 4pm.   

We require a keen, enthusiastic and well presented person to work as part of our team to support our clients, tenants and contractors and to undertake daily tasks associated with the lifting and placement of vessels for repairs, maintenance and storage purposes. The role is varied, busy and “hands on” and suits someone who has a passion for boating and marine based interests.

The role includes daily interaction with clients, tenants and on site contractors and involves manual labour and working outdoors including heavy lifting.

The role encompasses the following duties:

Straddle Carrier operation for the lifting of boats 

Crane operation for the lifting and placement of a variety of marine structures and equipment

Preparing boat enclosures and boat cradling

Boat yard operations & management 

Assisting clients, tenants and contractors as required incl. customer service enquiries / bookings / administration

Repairs / maintenance / site cleaning as required

Other duties as directed by management from time to time

Applicants should demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

Boatyard operation & / or marina operation experience

Straddle Carrier or Remote Operator Gantry Crane operation

Crane operation experience. Slewing Crane & / or Remote Operator Gantry Crane or similar

Fork Lift operation. Fork Lift current ticket / licence 

Current open driver’s licence

Physically fit & energetic

Reliable, motivated and self-driven with attention to detail

Demonstrate a good work ethic & able to work unsupervised

Able to work to timeframes and schedules

Strong interpersonal & communication skills

Able to take direction 

Knowledge of, and commitment to safe work practices & WHS

Microsoft Office suite computer skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel

The following skills are an advantage:

QLD recreational marine licence  

Dogman ticket

Mechanical or boiler maker experience  

Book keeping experience
